Once there lived a boy called Joe who was so mean he stuck his tongue out at everyone he met. One day he was walking along a country road when he saw an old lady when she walked past Joe he stuck his tongue out and he could not put his tongue back in his mouth. Joe tried and tried to put his tongue back in but he could not do it. With his tongue sticking out like the gang plank on a pirate ship, Joe also found that he could not talk.

He when on for a wile but finally said that he had found her and here she was. Amazed to find out more about this extraordinary women caroline invited her in and began to talk…

    • Mrs Vickers says:

You’ve got my attention and this is a very different story. I’d like to know more. Some points for development- Make it clear that the old lady with Mr Gransch is the grandma (refer to her more), Where is the father? and proof read for missing capital letters.

    • Anna says:

I loved reading the beginning of your story. I can’t wait to read the rest of it. You used super punctuation that gave it the icing on the cake. I’m literally on the end of my seat. You should be very proud of yourself. Best of wishes, Anna.

    • James says:

Nice start Lucia try and add a bit more information about the dad

    • Adam says:

      That was a really good.

    • Tyler says:

I’ve never read a story like this for a 500 words challenge in my life it is very unique and sounds professional. In addition it is very descriptive because it uses brackets and over information like this ‘in a deep voice the man started talking.’

    • Kathryn says:

      Great story so far Lucia

    • Tyler says:

It’s a good story that gives nice detail like when you used amazing parenthesis.

  4. Kathryn says:

    This is my beginning

Once there was a gymnast named Amber. There was a big competition coming up (in six months) which Amber was training for. She woke up bright and early on a sunny morning to go to gymnastics for training . When she arrived at the gym Amber’s coach was ready to start training “Good morning coach,” she said eager to start.
“Are you ready?” replied Ellie (the coach).
“Yes, ” Amber said getting on to beam.
She started her beam routine, Amber was doing really well but when she got to the front ariel she slipped and hit her head on side of the beam. Amber went to hospital straight away with her mum and sat down to have an x-ray. When she had finally had her x-ray the doctor sat down next to Amber. It was bad news…

  5. Finn says:

    Here is my beginning

Once,in the blazing deserts of Africa lived a young adopted boy and a step brother they were called Melvin and Morris.
Melvin was originally born in Ireland ; was adopted by a super rich family called the Gates. The younger brother called Morris taunted Melvin for his Irish accent and so did everyone else at his posh boarding school. He didn’t like his school because everyone looked down on him for not having a posh:
    .accent
    .maners
    .smile
.they even taunted him for not waving like the Queen.

    • Adam says:

      Well done

    • Mrs Vickers says:

I’m wondering where you are going with this story? Blazing deserts of Africa- lovely; boarding school – great setting but you are more creative than this, Finn. Think about where you are going with this story- know your beginning, middle and end before you start.

    • Tyler says:

It’s a good story but it was a bit sad how they got taunted if you have a computer at home then you should write a whole book that has 200 pages about this!

    • harry says:

That’s a great beginning if you keep it like that you will defiantly win!!!! Great use of bullet points. Also some great vocabluary

  6. macie says:

this is the first 2 paragraphs 124 words

Once there lived a girl (Emily) and her 2 dogs (Jasper and Ronnie). Emily took them both for a walk up Rivington pike. Ronnie ran straight ahead and started sniffing in a patch of grass , Meanwhile Jasper was in the next field. Ronnie started digging and digging some more.
Ronnie pulled out some sort of bone in a bottle with a piece of paper in it. Emily rushed over to Ronnie and grabbed the bottle. “RONNIE!” he was waging his wagging his tail really fast “You’re so clever!” she took a close look at it…” It’s a fossil!” she called out. “From a Dinosaur!” ….

  7. Eve says:

    Just One Wish
Once, long ago in Pennsylvania, there lived a young girl called Evelyn. She was a bright girl but sometimes she could be as daft as a brush. One hot summers morning, she decided to spend the day in town. When Evelyn arrived, town folks started to knock her over and barge into her. Sad and depressed, she journeyed back to her home.

  8. Matilda says:

Ellie was a 12 year old elite gymnast and was currently preparing for an extremely serious competition in Malta. One day, she was doing her elite beam routine with the round-off double back dismount. Everything was going fine until the dismount…
She threw her body backwards, flipping through the air like a soaring eagle. Then, she landed. Ellie landed on her foot as it lay on its side. She fell to the floor in agony. Her coach and all her friends ran over and stood gasping in shock. In her head she was screaming, knowing that the competition was in less than 2 months. She was carried off the floor and had to wait for an ambulance to take her to get an x-ray. She prayed it wasn’t broken.
Once she got to hospital, she had her x-ray. Luckily, it wasn’t broken, yet it was sprained. She was told not to do any gymnastics for 4 weeks and then have 2 weeks to stretch, yet still no actual moves. After those 6 weeks, she was allowed back in the gym to get ready for the competition.
After those 6 boring and frustrating weeks, she was back in the gym as if nothing had ever happened. Before she knew it, it was the day of the competition.
She walked into the competition gym with her hair done neatly in a bun and her team leotard and tracksuit on. She took off her tracksuit just before being called to perform on floor. Everything went perfect apart from a slight stumble on her first tumbling pass. Next was bars. She did everything wonderfully with no deductions whatsoever. Ellie’s next apparatus was vault. Vault was her best apparatus so of course both her vaults were perfect. Finally she was called for beam. Shaking all over, Ellie mounted and performed all her skills with no stumbles at all. Then it was her dismount. She dived forwards and flipped backwards, all before she landed perfectly on the blue crash mat.
Now it was time for the awards. “3rd place goes to, Millie Thomas!” announced the head judge. “2nd place goes to, Libbie Jenkins!” she said just before, “And finally 1st place goes to, Ellie Williams.” With a massive smile on her face, Ellie walked up onto the podium and stood on the first place block with a gold medal around her neck and an enormous trophy in her hand. From that day on, Ellie was named a role model to every gymnast out there.

A fiew years later he couldn’t live without a name so he travelled half way across the globe to find it. The sad thing was that he didn’t find it so he travelled back home.

  11. Amelia says:

Once there was a girl called Ellie she was only child in her family. She wanted everything she could think of like the iPhone 7s the, new mac book pro, a new laptop, a new puppy, a swimming pool, and a new house. Obviously, her parents wouldn’t allow her to have all this stuff so she went of her rocker.
The next day she grabbed he dad’s wallet and got £10,000 out of it and stole his car and went to buy all that stuff herself!! So off she went to the Trafford centre to get all the stuff on her list but even more. She didn’t really care if she got told of. well let’s just say I wouldn’t dare do this.
7hours later she was still there she had 164 bags but she couldn’t carry the bags so she had to get a humongous trollie . she had already spent £9000 it was loads. purposely she got all the recites and put the all in the bin. the bins where getting emptied tomorrow so she was on the safe side for now.
Ellie had now spent all her money .so it was time to go home. Well she didn’t really think about where she was going to put these bags. she eventually got home mum and dad were worried sick they had been looking every were for her.
The next day her dad shouted “who did you get all of the money of “she answered you who do you think you plonker”. they had a row for ages and dad went of his rocker but Elie was fine she wasn’t even bothered what punishment it was going to be .it took a long time for dad to think what this huge punishment was going to be.
He finally decides that she was grounded for 3 months get all her clothes given to charity and never allowed to go to the Trafford centre ever again! Now then Obviously, Ellie didn’t care. but Ellie really didn’t want to give all those new Clothes toys and everything like that away to charity. So, she was going to plan to stop this from happening. what was she going to do?
But dad was keeping a close eye on Ellie he was looking through her fiels and he found that there was this plan sheet on HOW TO STOP DAD GIVING MY CLOTHES AWAY !! so straight away dad went running after Ellie and seeing what she was doing. well Ellie kindly agreed that she would give the clothes to charity.
Ellie asked “will I get all that money” her dad shouted “no will your heck “he explained that it was going to people in need who had disabilities and where very poorly so they were in hospital. Ellie felt so sorry for those people .
about a year later Ellie felt she should do more for charity .so she did. She did lots of thing she was a very kind girl.

  12. James says:

Once there lived 5 brave and clever children called James, Finn, Zach, Macie and Lana who helped out the inspector- Inspector Jenkinson. James, who was very intelligent, had heard from the inspector that he had told their enemy, Mr Goon, about the new mystery, it was very interesting because this was like no other mystery: it was `The Mystery Of The Missing Man. Zach, who was also very intelligent, had lots of ideas for this mystery. He had been working on his disguises including: Old Balloon Lady, Homeless man, wax figure and Gang member. Finn, Macie and Lana had good skills in spying on the person who they thought had committed the crime.
The next day, James and Zach went down by river to see if there was anything suspicious around. Soon it was becoming time for James to go home because his mum would not be happy about this because she would not like him to be late. So off went James still on the lookout for any criminal like people. Zach who could stay out later, saw two men talking behind the wax work hall so he went on all-fours to try to figure out what they were saying but, as he was on all fours, he couldn’t see. Zach had to report them to James and the team.
The following evening they all met up in Finn’s garden shed and Zach told them about the two men. James asked him what they were wearing.
Zach replied:“They were wearing Jeans, old hat, black pointy shoes and grey hoodie.”
“So everyone should look out for these men,” James told the team. After that, James went down to river where Zach said he had seen these men but there was no sign of them.

The next morning, they once again met up in Finn’s garden shed they had found out some clues. Macie and Lana were going to bed when they saw two men one with a sack on his head and one carrying him to the hall. So Lana and Macie kept the evidence to themselves but something also woke them up it was a sound of a bell ringing on a bike so also they took that evidence.
The very next day, all the Find Outers, as they call themselves, gathered together to see if anyone heard anything last night. The two girls told the boys about the noises they heard like bells ringing and someone kidnapping another person. On the other hand, Mr Goon hadn’t found this much out he had only found out the clothes they were wearing when he saw them. But the others had been told to keep a look out for bikes with bells.

That afternoon, the team went down to the wax works hall to look out for the men that Zach had pointed out that morning. Macie and Lana went through the open window round the back. They spotted the same description that Zach had given the team. So quickly and quietly they ran through to the main bit of the hall to trap the men. James was just walking in to see the trap that the two girls had done.

Soon the inspector Jenkinson came to the unexpected scene of two men: one with a sack on his head and the other walking him around like a hostage but they were able to arrest the man and set the other man free.

    That’s My 500 Word Challenge.

  13. Nathan says:

‘told’ sounds a bit bossy and uppity which is fine if she is that sort of girl. If not how about ‘begged’? Also say why she wants to go to London – so that she……

I’m looking forward to the next installment.

    Here is my beginning,

Once there was a girl called Alice and she was a shy kind of person and doesn’t like to talk much. Anyway, on 19th March she had gone to her aunt’s house. She had seen there was a forest behind her aunt’s house and straight away she went in the forest. Without saying goodbye to her parents.
Alice soon had been in the forest for about 10 minutes and already she was half way in. Her aunt had got very worried by this point and went out looking for her. Nobody had got this far into this place.
Alice was scared. Afraid. And alone. “HELLO! ANYBODY THERE! AUNT HEATHER!” she shouted. Nobody answered… Then she heard a twig snap. She hesitated. Then she looked back. No one was there, but how, she heard a twig snap. There it was again. This time she didn’t look back. She knew this would just be her imagination. Or was it.

  19. Aimee says:

The Kitten And The Cheetah : By Aimee 😀
Once , there was a girl who always wanted a kitten , a ginger , fluffy kitten . But what her Mum got her wasn’t what she wanted. A few days later , the little kitten arrived! The little girl came rushing to the door , tears down her eyes ,it was a black , small kitten, she said they were happy tears (But they weren’t) and she walked slowly off … . That night she sneakily threw the kitten out the back garden , leaving the poor kitten not knowing what was going on. The kitten ran off into south and didn’t come back , suddenly , the little kitten bumped into a ferocious cheetah! but thankfully the cheetah thought it was her baby cub , so she brought it home . A whole year later , the kitten hadn’t come back , so the little girl was worried , she asked her Mum if she could go out for a night or two and the Mum replied “Yeah whatever sweetie” (she replied like that because she was on an important call) and so the little girl set off . That dark night she rested on a branch of a tree and suddenly ‘BANG’ she fell off the tree after hearing a strange noise !? she ran and ran as fast as she could to the noise … It was her kitten 😀 finally she found him , she wrapped him in a blanket and carried him to his “Home Sweet Home” where he belonged!
    The End!.

Emma stumbled across a hidden hole while playing hide and seek with Taylor. This is when they first ever entered the hidden forest, every thing became magical.

    • Mrs Vickers says:

Love the use of ‘stumbled’. It implies they weren’t looking for it and didn’t know it existed which is what you wanted. Superb.

    • Adam says:

      Good start.

    • Tyler says:

This Is A Very, Very, VERY Good Story I Think You Should Do A Second Story.

    • Ruby mc says:

Once the girls entered the hidden forest they came across unimaginable things such as talking trees, dancing animals magical fairys and even edible plants, Emma was a little scared but Taylor was forever eating the edible plants they had every flavour of the rainbow,Taylor never wanted to go home, Everyday was a new adventure because the fairys granted a wish everyday, Emma wished she was a princess and Taylor wished she could fly, Emma eventually became comfortable with the talking trees especially when they danced in the breeze. One day though Taylor became very ill her parents were very worried and upset they didn’t know what was wrong with Taylor even the doctor didn’t know , but Emma did she knew Taylor had eaten to many of the edible plants, So she decided to enter the hidden forest alone. Emma knew she could make a wish and wanted to see the fairys . Once inside, the forest could sense Emma’s sadness she explained that Taylor was very sick and asked the fairys if she could wish to make Taylor better , the fairys were more then happy to grant this wish but explained that it might not work as Taylor wasn’t in the forest but they all hoped and prayed that it would Emma thanked the fairys and started to make her way back home. As Emma got nere the house she could hear her mum (Amber) crying ” she began to worry and ran to the door as she opened the door she realised her mum wasn’t crying with sadness but with “joy” as there stood at the top of the stairs was Taylor with rosey glowing cheeks and a smile from ear to ear , Emma ran to the top of the stairs and gave Taylor a big hug. Taylor whispered in Emma’s ear and said ” I know you went to the forest all alone and made a wish for me to be better” I love you Emma.
      The End.

    My second paragraph

The next morning the unicorn went out to search for a name but no name could be found. He was so tired but he never gave up.

  22. Eve says:

    Part 2
That evening, Evelyn saw a dazzling star, dancing through the sky like a ballerina. As this was the first star she saw that night, Evelyn chose to wish upon it.”I wish I may, I wish I might . I wish I was the only person on earth!”

  23. vickyl says:

    The family of flying unicorns!
One day, I was just playing outside when suddenly; I saw a flying unicorn in the air. I followed it and ran and ran. Finally, the flying unicorn descended and then landed on a hill. The hill was surrounded by high trees all the way round. I had to make way all the way in.
Eventually, I managed to get in. As I walked in, there was the flying unicorn. Surprisingly, the flying unicorn spoke and said “Ride on me,” so I did. As we glided through the air, I started to sing.
After a while, we turned back and landed on that hill. When we landed there was another flying unicorn but it was a boy. The flying unicorn (that I was riding on) went up to the other flying unicorn. They stayed together so I went back home because it was getting late anyway.
The next day, I came in and found out the two flying unicorns were already playing so I asked if I could play. They replied “Yes!” We just did a little fly. After that, they showed me several awesome tricks in the air and on land. They did a loop, a flip and much more.
It started to get dark. From day it turned to night. They snuggled up together to keep warm. I went home and I imagined what would happen tomorrow.
The following morning, I brought them some food and a blanket. I also brought some water for them. They scoffed up the food like pigs and drank the water quickly. We did the same again, played games. They spent more time together so I asked again like yesterday. As it grew later, colder and darker, they got cold so they snuggled up together and went to sleep. I put my blanket over them so they didn’t get cold. I left my bag filled with food, as they may get hungry. Then I left…
The next day, they didn’t let me go near them. For some reason, they were staying at the same place they slept. They moved a little bit to the side so I could see where they were hiding and it was a baby flying unicorn. I got a piece of food out of the bag and went to feed it to the baby flying unicorn. I promised I would always look after it and keep it safe. Afterwards, we took flight and they did awesome tricks.
Then I looked after them and we did everything together. I even gave them a proper place to sleep and live in! I love my flying unicorns and I will never leave them and I hope they will never forget me and stay with me forever!
However, if they decided that they wanted to leave me and go and live in some other special place, I would be sad but I would be very, very happy for them!
We all lived happily ever after together!
    THE END!!!

  24. Adam says:

Ok, this is what I have so far:

Once there lived a boy called Joe who was so mean he stuck his tongue out at everyone he met. One day he was walking along a country road when he saw an old lady. When she walked past Joe, he stuck his tongue out and he could not put his tongue back in his mouth. Joe tried and tried to put his tongue back in but failed. It was impossible. With his tongue sticking out like the gang plank on a pirate ship, Joe also found that he could not talk. Feeling embarrassed, he rushed home.
Once home, Joe tried to explain to his mother what had happened but she was unable to understand him so Joe snatched a piece of paper from the table and wrote it all down. Once she had read all of it, she hugged him but said, “Maybe this will teach you a lesson, my son.” In frustration and anger, he ran upstairs to his bedroom.
The following morning, Joe woke to find that his tongue was still sticking out. He rushed to the mirror and looked at himself and wept. Today was the Bolton District Cup final, the day that he and his team –Heaton Tigers- had worked and trained hard for. He was The Tigers’ goalkeeper – their best goal stopper! But how could he play…looking like this? Joe hoped drinking lots would help…but it didn’t. Nothing helped! Joe resigned himself to the fact that he was going to have to miss it and barricaded himself in his bedroom.
Later that day, he found out that his team had lost 6-2! Joe felt terrible and felt that it was all his fault.
Monday morning, arrived too quickly, for Joe. His mother insisted that he went to school. Taking a scarf, Joe wrapped it around him covering his tongue. With his head down, Joe arrived at the bus stop pretending he was playing on his phone. He kept his head down for most of the day, even in lessons. However, during the afternoon assembly, Mrs Butler (the headteacher) called the football team out and Joe cautiously stood up and made his way to the front of the hall. Once at the front, his scarf dropped…

    The Haunted School

Once, in an ordinary town, on an ordinary street, lived an ordinary girl, who went to an not so ordinary school.
This school is not for the fait hearted! With rickety rackety stairs and shadows that devour you in on bite. Piercing screams that echo around the corridor and do not forget the rank smell of cabbage soup.
Molly David was a, kind, loving young girl who was scared of…well…everything! From spiders to tomatoes and elephants to emu’s.
Morning came, another day of school- or what she thought… Today was different!
It was the day the ghosts gnash and grind their teeth for something or someone to eat! The piercing screams that echo the hall bounce from wall to wall and deafen all. This how the school began with cruel monsters and witches who cast spells.
She arrived at school- early but something was wrong, nobody or nothing was about. The birds stopped chirping and the wind became louder- and louder- and louder. Was she late?
The door creaked open- she stepped inside. Today it was English but this was where all the fun began. There was no teacher, no students but there was one monster creeping around the room. It had large brown eyes, grinding teeth and stomping feet. She FROZE…

Here is my full story. Please tell me what you think. Hope you enjoy.

However, during the afternoon assembly, Mrs Butler (the head teacher) called the football team out and Joe cautiously stood up and made his way to the front of the hall.
Once at the front, his scarf dropped. The whole assembly cried out in laughter, even his friends. The staff too were unable to contain themselves and tears of laughter fell down their faces. Joe rushed out and continued running right out of the school doors. He didn’t stop until he reached the safety of his bedroom.
The following days were hard for Joe. Wherever he went, people couldn’t stop laughing at him and stuck their tongues out as he past. Joe didn’t like being laughed at or people making fun of him. He realised that he had been horrible to everybody and that he had to change his ways.
From then on, Joe tried to do kind deeds and was a much kinder person.
After a week, whist walking home, he came across the same old lady and as he past her, he waved and she waved back. Suddenly, he felt a tingling in his mouth and to his amazement his tongue slowly went back into its rightful place.

One day, Dan was picking his daughter,Emily, up from her club at school while his girlfriend,Evie, was waiting in the car. Dan and Emily only lived down the road from her school but Evie was staying over that night. At 9:00pm a cold wet storm began and all power was lost on their street, so Dan, Evie and Emily decided to all go to sleep. After 6 peaceful hours of sleep Dan and Evie were awoken by a car alarm.Dan looked out of the window to see what was happening and all he could see was his blue mini with a smashed window! Dan rushed down to his car to see what had happened and he looked in the car and Evie’s laptop was gone and Emily’s new trainers were gone as well. Dan was shocked that someone would do something like that. That night Dan had to go and get his car cleaned (at 3:00am) on the inside and the outside because there was glass everywhere. While all of this was happening another alarm went of down the road. Meanwhile Emily was still asleep and she didn’t know that any of this was happening. The next day Dan and Evie told Emily what had happened and she was determined to find out who did it.“Daddy why did you wash the car because now I won’t be able to get fingerprints!”shouted Emily. That day at school Emily was trying to work it out all day, when she got home she looked over the fence and found a hammer she put it in a bag and got the fingerprints of it. Earlier that day she saw a car door wide open and the people who owned it were asleep still so it must have been that car which alarm went off. Emily interviewed all of the neighbours and had one that was very suspicious and two leads. The one person that was suspicious was Mr. Roberts he is 30 years old, he lives alone and he has no job.“I was out all night buying tools” said Mr. Roberts calmly.“Yes, he was here until 2:30.”said the owner of the tool shop. Emily thought that although his alibi was true he still could have done it because he was buying tools and the window was smashed by a tool because they left behind a part a the tool I found over the fence. Emily still had two leads the landlord and the cleaner from across the street.“I’m 60 years old and plus I was with my wife watching TV at home.”said the land lord in shock.“He was with me all night.”said the landlords wife.“I already have a laptop and plus I only just got back from my holiday with my parents on today!”. “Yes she did I’m unpacking my things right now”said the cleaners mum. So Emily knew it wasn’t the landlord or the cleaner so she checked the fingerprint with Mr. Roberts and it was a match. Emily showed the police and he got arrested.

“Are you ready?” replied Ellie (Amber’s coach).
“Yes, ” Amber said getting on to beam.
She started her beam routine, Amber was doing really well but when she got to the front ariel she slipped and hit her head on the side of the beam. Amber went to hospital straight away with her mum and sat down to have an x-ray. The doctor sat down next to Amber. It was bad news ” I’m afraid you can’t do any gymnastics for two months,” said the doctor.
Amber went home feeling very sad,” Oh it will be ok, you will still have the four months after,” said Ambers mum trying to make Amber feel better” It won’t be ok though, even Ellie said I need to train harder and now I can’t train for two months. What am I meant to do now!” Amber was getting really upset.
When one month had gone Amber was getting used to no gymnastics . She tried to persuade her mum to let her do just a little bit of gymnastics like a handstand or a cartwheel but Amber’s mum just said,” You can’t do gymnastics yet, you just have to wait one more month,” explained Amber’s mum,” Ok…” said Amber sounding even more bored.
When finally the two months had gone Amber was so excited to be able to do gymnastics. So she was at the gym early. “Ellie! I can do gymnastics now, it’s been two months so I can start training,” said Amber very excited to start.
“Good! Let’s start with your floor routine then,” replied Ellie. So Amber started training and she was definitely getting better. “If you carry on like this you will definitely be getting a medal,” said Ellie sounding very happy. And Ellie was right Amber was doing very well.
The competition was finally here! It wasn’t very long before it was Amber’s beam routine, she knew she had to be careful with this routine because of what had happened with the front ariel. When Amber started she was a little bit nervous, but her mum was cheering her on by giving her thumbs up. Amber was doing really well when she got to the front ariel Amber nailed it! Ellie and her mum were so pleased.
Next it was Amber’s last routine: her floor routine. She was doing all her tricks really well. When she had finished the score was announced…Amber had got second in her beam routine and bronze on her floor routine! Then they were told the overalls…Amber had got bronze. Amber was so happy!

Once there lived two brothers called Josh and Jack whose grandmother fell ill. She lived on the other side of the mysterious forest. Josh and Jacks mother asked them to take a basket of food and medicine to their grandmother to help her get better. On their journey to deliver the basket the boys discovered that there were two different paths through the forest, the GOOD path and the BAD path! The boys took the good path instead of the spooky bad path. On the good path there were little toad stool houses with little people living in them, a lovely rainbow stream that ran along down the middle of the good path with toffee rocks. But all of a sudden they heard a scream coming from the treacherous bad path.

The boys carried on down the good path. As they approached the end of their path, they realised they had taken a wrong turn. Suddenly, they found themselves on the bad path and to their horror it began to turn night time. The boys found themselves having no choice but to walk further into the woods. They knew that something was following them as every time they took a step the mysterious thing would to. Each bush they walked passed they saw the branches would curl up, the thorns on the bushes got more thicker and more vicious. As the boys’ fear began to grow they saw a light in the not so far distance. The light was beaming from grandma’s house.” Quick we are nearly there!” said Jack.

All of a sudden, the half gnome half vampire {the mysterious thing} saw the basket that josh was carrying then and he too spotted the little cottage so he ran as fast as his chubby legs could take him. When the boys reached grandma’s house the door was open, but little did the boy’s know that the mysterious thing had reached the house before them. They found that the door was open so they went upstairs to see their grandmother. They gave her the basket of food and medicine. “Oh , grandma what white skin you have” said josh “that is because I am ill dear “said grandma “Oh grandma what wide eyes you have” said Jack “what sharp teeth you have” “All the better to EAT YOU WITH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Josh said “No that is not grandma that is the mysterious thing” … “Ah!!!”
Back on the other side of the forest Josh and Jack’s mother heard something, she started to get worried because Jack and Josh weren’t home yet. So she set off to grandma’s house. When she arrived at grandma’s house she went upstairs to see her mother. She knew that the half gnome half vampire was not her mother so she sliced the half gnome half vampire in half and out crawled grandma, Jack and Josh all covered in blood eew!!!

The doctor couldn’t understand why Taylor was so ill and her parents began to worry. Even though Emma knew she was able to have a wish for herself everyday, she entered the forest to ask the fairys for the wish to make her sister better , all the animals and the trees were so worried even the plants felt bad. The fairys were more then happy to grant this wish but explained that it mite not work as Taylor wasn’t in the forest but everyone hoped and prayed that it would. As Emma approached the house she could hear her mum Amber crying she began to worry and started to run to the door , as she opened the door she realised that her mum wasn’t crying with sadness but with joy ‘ as there stood at the top of the stairs was Taylor with roses glowing cheeks and a smile from ear to ear, Emma ran to the top of the stairs and gave Taylor the biggest hug ,Taylor whispered in Emma’s ear “I know you wished for me to become better and that you went into the hidden forest all alone for me” I love you Emma.

  45. Nathaniel says:

One gloomy evening , on a high peeked mountain , lived a terrifying dragon .The dragon was as big as a sky scraper and as fierce as a bear when it’s hungry . It had vast wings and it’s spine was as scaly as a snake . Nearby was a little village , who needed to protect themselves from the mighty dragon . That evening , the dragon tried to attack the village . The dragon tried to burn down all of the village and nearly killed some the villagers. He did this because high upon the mountain he could smell lots and lots of delicious food , because all of the village were harvesting. A few days later , the villagers got fed up of the dragon stealing their food every day . So the next day they formed a little army to fight the dragon off . The next day , the army got ready for battle , but sadly the dragon was to strong for them and they lost the battle . So each day they kept trying and trying but every time they kept losing . Finally , the dragon struck again when the army was very weak . It got burnt down again !!! They asked more and more people to join but they were to scared so they kept making excuses up so they wouldn’t have to join . With all the people they had , they built a giant net so the dragon would get stuck in it . The net wasn’t strong enough so it kept breaking . Eventually , they came up with a solution which was they needed a stronger material to hold the dragon in . They got some thick rope and made a huge net out of it which was really hard . The following morning , they got the huge net out and started to practise with a dummy dragon which was approximately the same size as the real one . They kept trying and eventually got the hang of it . Then the time came and the dragon was standing right in front of them … They had to move quick or the dragon would work out what they were trying to do to him . One of the men distracted the dragon so the others could trap it . They did it !!! They tamed the dragon but it took longer than they thought . So they all lived happily ever after.

“Well, no mum, no dad. NO RULES!” she thought as her stomach rumbled.
The first thing Evelyn did was run into the house and get some chocolate for her breakfast. The chocolate was delicious. But Evelyn couldn’t help but think how much nicer it would have been to be able to share her chocolate with her sister.
After her chocolate breakfast Evelyn was feeling ‘BLEUUUUURGH’. Maybe her Mum was right about not having chocolate for breakfast. Evelyn decided to head to the park to burn off the chocolate.
Evelyn’s favourite thing to do at the park was to go on the see-saw with her friend Liliana. She rushed to the see-saw. Excitedly she jumped on excitedly. ‘Oh….’ she suddenly realised. The park wasn’t as much fun on your own.
Evelyn trudged home confused. She thought that being the only person on Earth would be endless fun. Instead it was a bit, well, lonely. She knew what would cheer her up. Music ! Music always cheered her up. She rushed home to put her favourite CD on. Now, Evelyn could sing as loudly as she wanted. And she certainly did ! Until, that is, her little brother’s favourite song came on.
‘Oh I wish Joshua was here.’ Evelyn thought sadly.

    The life of an assassin

I had a normal childhood normal mum normal sister but the only not normal thing about my life was my dad, he wasn’t a hero or a villain but more of an assassin! As I grew older my dad got more and more wanted until he sadly past on the 9th of September 2004. After that I knew I was going to be one of him, a hunter an assassin! If he didn’t die that night on my birthday I would’t be who I am today. When I told my family about this path in which I chose they kicked me out for they didn’t want a ruthless killer in their family, not again.
Today I am an assassin trying to avenge my fathers death in which always haunts me especially on my birthday, the night of his death. Sometimes I miss my family and wonder what they have done in the last 16 years. I do not wish to be an assassin I just want to carry on the word of my father and even though I may be an assassin I still try to save people who are nice and friendly. The name of which I am may be a bit daunting but I do not wish to cause harm to citizens I just wish to cause harm to my and my dads enemies.
As I search the alleyways I encounter a conversation between 2 dangerous people, they were both threatening each other “If you don’t kill him by the end of the month there won’t be anymore James Lohn!” demanded the unknown figure. The other mysterious figure stormed of and vanished into the crowd before me. At that moment I trapped the other figure and shouted “Who who do you want to kill!” she replied “There’s my sun!” I eventually came to a conclusion after this response and ran away as far from my mother as I could for I didn’t think that the conflict in which my father gained that night would also effect all the rest of my family. Although my family just want to carry on the word of my father I think it is to dangerous for them and I’d much rather me get killed then them for they are to important to me.
That night as I was searching for the killer of my father in the frigid wind and then I came across three people in an abandoned factory talking about their favourite kills and one of them said “Remember when I killed Peter Lohn ah that was a good one, I killed him on his child’s birthday, it was fun I probably broke the kids heart or made it stronger!” at that moment I dropped down and got my blades out, then the other two people ran, I hanged the murderer, when I was about to kill him he said “If you kill me you won’t be any better than me!” so I called 911.

    The Cats Night Club

‘Twas the night before Guy Fawkes (bonfire night) and not a parent or child was stirring. All was not stirring except those beloved night creatures.Cats.
They wriggled and jiggled in the glimmering madness of the midnight moon.”Come on!” shouted parents to kittens who lagged behind. They only came to stop to a halt at a frankly deserted park forest ,twined with ivy and holly berries that gleamed an ominous, red ,eerie, glow.Suddenly, the sound of a huge BANG! Filled the cold air around the hyper cats.It was the boss of the night club.S.G.T. -Stands for Samuel Galileo Tango-.That’s his birth name. All the cats waited in hope for him to commence ,the immense ‘Cats Night Club’!All the cats acclaimed as vast boom boxes and snack shacks shot out of thin air.It was an amazing sight. For cats.
At once ,the cats shot out into th distance of the club but one cat ,which was a tabby cat called Firework, walked casually over to the bonfire stand. His abnormally big headed (nerdy)twin brother followed him without uttering a single word to stop him.
Scrupulously, the two tabby cats inched over to the stand.Only the boss was allowed to set the fireworks off.All but too suddenly,Fireworks brother got perplexed by a very nerdy thing.Out of the corner of his eye Firework got a glimpse of his brother.Sneakily and carefully,he tied a firework onto Alberts-his brothers-tail.Without thinking he set it off.
BOOM!BANG!FIZZ!CRASH!Albert erupted in flames. As fast as lightning, the boss got a hose and tried to save Albert. It worked but Albert was not impressed as he was drenched in water.
The boss was not at all impressed as well and set them fees. However being so kind he only charged them a small amount and he dd not scold them but this proved to be a warning for them and they never did anything like that or anything mischeivous from that day on.They still fought though. That would never change.

Once upon a time there lived two sisters who were twins. They lived in a small village on the edge of the countryside, in the village there was a little primary school where everybody knew each other. There was also a little village pub, church and one convenience store. They had to go in to the City to buy their clothes. The two sisters lived with their mother and father. They were called Zendaya and Marlena. Their mother wanted to go in to the City but the sisters wanted to stay at home and play out in their back garden. The girls are very different, Zendaya has brown hair and Marlena has blonde hair, they are 10 years old, Marlena was born a minute later than her sister. They ignored their mother shouting them and off they went in to the back garden, the ivy bush was overgrown on the back fence at the bottom of the garden. They asked their dad if they could cut it back so the sisters and their dad began cutting it, once they’d started it dad said “let’s cut it all off so we can see the fence.” They finally reached the fence and found there was a gate, “it’s magical” said Zendaya, “Yeah” said Marlena. The girls opened it…they walked off in to the woods behind their house and left their dad to tidy up. As they walked further in to the woods and reached the other side they could see something moving in a box, as they got closer they could see it was an abandoned puppy, they instantly picked it up and hurried home with it to show their parents. Marlena and Zendaya kept asking each other, “How can anyone abandon a puppy?” They begged and pleaded with the parents to let them keep the puppy, in the end their parent gave in and said “yes but only because you’re at an age where you can look after it.” Their mother told them they could go in to the city and take the puppy to the pet store so they could get it checked over and make sure it wasn’t hurt, and to but food, toys and a bed for it. They all got in the car and off they went through the village and headed towards the city. At the pet store everything was ok with the puppy, the vet told them it was a boy so they bought everything they needed for him to have a good loving home. The sisters were very excited on the journey home as they were allowed to have the puppy in their room during the night. Once they arrived back home the family sat down to discuss a name for their new family member, they all came up with different names such as, Hero, Prince, Bounce, Rolo, Deviche and Ollie. They eventually decided on Rolo as he kept rolling over. During the evening the girls were trying to teach Rolo to play fetch. When the sisters were ready for bed Rolo tried followed them up the stairs but stopped half way and looked tired so Zendaya went back down to pick him up. Once in the bedroom Rolo climbed in to his bed but started to cry so Marlena and Zendaya both took their duvets off the bed and lay on the floor with Rolo. They went to sleep very excited as they were allowed to take him for his very first walk in the morning.

At time when the ancient land Terramidiem was writing myths and enjoying peaceful days of its history, there was a famous family Austinus with a son called Arius in the city of Stratus. The Austinus family were the keepers of the sacred star, the Sempiterno star. One day, a terrible creature, the Skelus Skull attacked the city and set fire to it, stole the Sempiterno star and killed all Arius’ family. Luckily, Arius managed to stay alive. Now, darkness came over Stratus and the famine struck the country.
Broken and full of anger and revenge, Arius dreamt a dream in which his mother appeared to him and told him that he could conquer the Skelus Skull and bring back the Sempiterno star only if his heart stayed pure and humble.
The Skelus Skull dwelt in the underworld called Inferna where there was eternal darkness and the only source of light were the poisonous green gasses.
The following morning, Arius went to see wizard Prefator who gave him three thins: the double bladed glowing fire sword, a relic of St Domnius and an invisible shield. Arius was now ready for his quest. He descended into Inferna with the pounding heart but courageous. For days, he wandered in darkness. The only light that showed him the way forward was the glowing fire sword. He was attacked by the gigantic poisonous ants and managed to defeat them. The deeper he went into the Inferna, the more confused and disorientated he became.
Suddenly, the Skelus Skull appeared before him with a petrifying laugh whispering into his ear that he cannot defeat him. But then, Arius remembered his mothers words and instead of drawing his sword out, he reached for the relic of St Domnius and it started to glow. The Skull shrieked with a terrible scream and disappeared into a thin air with an enormous explosion. The Sempiterno star was released and it show the way out to Arius.
Arius fell down with exhaustion but Hvarus, half horse half eagle creature rescued him and carried him safely back to Stratus.
The whole city celebrated Arius’ return and victory and quickly regained its prosperity and wealth.
Finally, Arius discovered his father was still alive and hiding in the forest as Prefator himself. He embraced him with tearful eyes and the heart full of pride and love.

    My Complete Story
    Just 1 Wish

Once, long ago in Pennsylvania, there lived a young girl called Evelyn. She was a bright girl but sometimes she could be as daft as a brush. One hot summers morning, she decided to spend the day in town. When Evelyn arrived, town folks started to knock her over and barge into her. Sad and depressed, she journeyed back to her home.
That evening, Evelyn saw a dazzling star, dancing through the sky like a ballerina. As this was the first star she saw that night, Evelyn chose to wish upon it.”I wish I may, I wish I might . I wish I was the only person on earth!”
The following morning, Evelyn jumped out of bed, cheerfully. “Mum, Dad. Becky, Joshua. ANYBODY!” She shouted, but there was no answer. Then, she ran outside. “Bob the baker. Chris the clown. Jeff the juggler!” But still, no answer.
“My wish came true!” She exclaimed, whilst standing in amazement.
“Well, no mum, no dad. NO RULES!” she thought as her stomach rumbled.
The first thing Evelyn did was run into the house and get some chocolate for her breakfast. The chocolate was delicious. But Evelyn couldn’t help but think how much nicer it would have been to be able to share it with her sister.
After her chocolate breakfast Evelyn was feeling ‘BLEUUUUURGH’. Maybe her Mum was right about having a healthy breakfast. Evelyn decided to head to the park to burn off the calories.
Evelyn’s favourite thing to do at the park was to go on the see-saw with her friend Liliana. She rushed to the see-saw. Excitedly, she jumped on.
As the night drew to a close, Evelyn began to miss her family and friends more than ever. Lying in bed, she started to cry, as she remembered how her Mother would sing her a soft lullaby to send her off to sleep.
Just then, out of the corner of her eye, Evelyn saw a bright light. “What was that?” she thought. She got out off bed and went over to the window to investigate. Suddenly she saw it again. The most amazing, wondrous, glistening star she had every seen. This was her chance! “I wish I may, I wish I might, I wish my live was back to normal.”
Evelyn stared out of the window for what seemed like an eternality. But her eyes would not stay open any longer, and eventually she dozed off into a deep sleep.
She awoke with a start, “What was that?” Evelyn ran down stairs to see her brother and sister sat around the dinner table, and her mum and dad preparing breakfast. Relived and delighted, she gave them all a huge hug.

Once, there was a young girl (Ava), She was a kind-hearted girl and was very friendly. Her twin brother (Mason) was a mean, unfriendly boy. There was one thing they had in common… MUSIC!!! They both loved listening to the radio especially Chris Evans’s show.
One day, there was a problem –The radio was down. Luckily the twins lived only 5 blocks away from the station. They went to the garage and looked for something to get there with. ‘’OUR BIKES!!” shouted Mason
“Good idea,” replied Ava. The twins told their parents ‘they were going to their friend’s house’ and set off.
When they arrived, the building was deserted with no security, so up and into the studio. A colourful light was coming from the main computer, Ava pressed a button and her favourite song started playing (Castle on the hill by Ed Sheeran). Seeing what his sister did Mason decided to press a button. When he turned round and spoke to Ava the twins could hear their voices coming through the speakers. THEY WERE BROADCASTING LIVE TO THE NATION!
Taking ideas from their favourite shows, Ava and Mason asked the nation what had happened. Suddenly, messages started popping up on a different computer screen. Some of them saying: ’Chris and his crew had malfunction in the system and were absorbed into the computer” said one “The only way to save them is to finish the show” said another. So as the messages told them, they carried on the show.
The show went on for what seemed like hours on end… Something made a speaking sound (sounding like Chris Evans) it sounded like it was coming from the computer. They sat there for 1 minute before realising that Chris and his crew had found a way to communicate. They pressed R and the video message replayed. “Thank you very much for doing my live show for me. You have just under 2 hours left until the live show is over. Please try and finish as that will save us and get us out of here. Just push the biggest switch and Shape of you will come on.” said Chris.
Tapping Mason’s shoulder, Ava started to panic. ‘’It is time for the ads but I don’t know what to press,’’ she said
‘’Don’t worry Ava I have found the adverts on this computer. Ah there we are the 500 words challenge.
    ‘’Well Done Mason!’’ shouted Ava.
Making sure they were back on and live, the twins turned around and saw that the ‘live sow’ light was on. They did the live show for an hour knowing it would be over soon. With only 1 minute left there was a knock on the door… Knock, Knock, Knock. In came Chris Evans with the biggest smile the twins had ever seen on anyone face in their life.
Chris sat down on the seat in the middle of Ava and Mason. ‘’Thank you oh so much!’’ He said. ‘’Now let’s get you two home’’.

  55. Joseph says:

It was a warm Spring day in April. A boy called Gerald sat inside playing video games, but his Dad kept pestering him to go in the garden to help mow the lawn. After hours of being mithered he miserably stomped through the grass where he opened the shed door in a sulk to get a rake. Gerald stepped inside. It was dark and the rake he wanted was right at the back. As he reached for it the door suddenly slammed shut behind him. “It must have been the wind”, Gerald thought to himself. He pushed with all his might at the door, but it was jammed. He felt around in the darkness for a torch. He switched it on as fast as he could and noticed a great tunnel had appeared in what should have been a shed panel.
“What’s this?”, Gerald said aloud, as he peered through the hole. It was a long dark passage with a few torches lighting the way. Gerald squeezed through the hole and crept his way along. Once he was at the end of the long passage, the world outside looked an icy blue. He stepped out of the tunnel where a world of snow and ice lay before him. Gerald looked behind him but the passage had filled itself in. “Well”, he said “If I got here, then there must be a way out!”.
Gerald noticed a small canoe gently bobbing about by the side of a lake. He walked over and slowly climbed in. He spotted some oars lying at the bottom of the boat, so started to row quickly because he was so cold. After 10 minutes his arms had gotten tired, so he thought “maybe I’ll stop and rest for a minute”. Suddenly a giant pirate ship with… cannons was behind him!!! “Yikes!” exclaimed Gerald, and he began to row once again, but faster than he believed he possibly could. He could not outrun the huge ship though, and he was soon exhausted. He heard a pirate call to his crew “Arrgghhh, mateys, here be our prey. Prepare the cannons!”. With that, one of the crew members popped in a cannonball and lit the fuse. The cannonball hit the side of the tiny canoe, leaving a gaping hole. It soon began to sink, so Gerald jumped out into the freezing water and felt he was going to die. He shut his eyes and waited for the end.
Suddenly he didn’t feel cold anymore. Or wet, which Gerald thought was odd. He opened his eyes, but! It was dark, like he was under something big. He pulled himself up to find himself lying safely in his bed. He felt relieved, “Thank goodness, it was just a bad dream” he thought. He was just about to get comfy again when he heard a voice. It was his Dad, “Gerald, come down here this minute and help mow the lawn. Go get me a rake from the shed”
    Gerald sighed miserably.

Straight after she heard the twig she spun around. There she saw a figure staring at her, she ran but fell over a tree root. She got up and she ran and found herself in a undiscovered place. The creature couldn’t get through the magic dome. She wondered if she was meant to be there. But she saw something fly past her.
She got so scared so she nipped herself just to see if she was dreaming. But nothing happened. She didn’t wake up and she wasn’t dreaming. There she was, all alone and nobody around her. She started to feel cold and started to cry and cry and cry. All she could do now was to fall asleep in there with nothing with her. She went in her pocket to keep her hands nice and warm and found a type of brunch/breakfast bar. She ate it like she had not of eaten in weeks. And after 0.8 second it had all gone.
As she was trying to go to sleep she could her the trees whispering like they were discussing what she was going to do next.
The morning had come and the sun was smiling down onto dreamland. There Alice was and she didn’t have anything to do. All she wanted right now was her aunt and uncle. There warm hands hugging her as she went to sleep. And there tender and loving words. She was sat under a tree when she heard a high, squeaky voice in a distant. It was getting closer by the minute. It was coming straight for Alice. Something hopped out from the bushes and there was a rabbit. The rabbit was white with a few spots of grey. Amazingly it spoke. ” Hello, hello, hello. Whom do we have here!” the creature bellowed in a squeaky but very posh voice.
Again she ran but amazingly the rabbit was on the other side. He repeated the sentence he had just said. And he hopped along like he hadn’t of had a conversation with Alice. Alice was very eager to get home and she thought that the rabbit would know the way back to Alice’s aunts house. And he said “Well of course. Anyway we have not properly met. My name is Mr. Bushy-tail. I will be your director to the way to your aunts house. Follow me.”
Finally at 2 am in the morning, Alice had finally arrived back were she belonged. Her aunt had actually woken up and went downstairs to get a cup of tea. As soon as Alice stepped through the door her aunt saw her and rushed to her they were now all back together.
    The End!

    Mythana and her Heroic Quest

Mythanaya was asleep, her dream was filled with chanting that seemed to be echoing from the town hall, “KILL THE BEAST!” The sunlight flooded her bedroom and she woke to close her blind. It was then the shock shot through her body as she realised this was not a dream.
She ran to her wardrobe, opened it and excitement gushed through her as she stood in awe gazing at her fighting suit. It was tight, black and stronger than armour. It came with black high-heeled boots that turned into ballet shoes at a click of the heels. The most amazing part of the ballet shoes was the tornado it created when Mythanaya did her pirouette. A whirlwind of such force was created that could suck any beast into it, enveloping them until they expired.
At twelve years old she was now fully trained to defend her town against attack from the beasts, of which there were many.
She put her suit into her rucksack, dived under her bed, grabbed yesterday’s clothes and threw them on. She slipped on her trainers, ran downstairs and out of the door. Her parents were at work, but she knew by now they would be amongst the crowd at the town hall.
It was only a couple of minutes before she too reached the crowd. She subtly snaked her way to the front. The golden gates of the Protector’s Arena gleamed and she could feel the excitement rush through her like the explosion of a supernova, as she stepped onto the golden platform.
It was as if a blanket of silence had dropped over the crowd as the ice white beam of light began searched the figures in the Arena, who were stood so still, it was as if Medusa herself was at work. The light rested upon her, this was her time to shine, as many of the town’s people had done before it was her turn to protect the town.
Mermaida was an evil creature, she was malicious, malevolent and merciless. She had lured many fisherman into her cave to feast herself upon their souls and the time had come for her cruelty to be extinguished.
Mythanaya had left the town, dressed in her suit, with the hopeful crowd singing the Warrior’s Song just for her.
Mythana slid silently into Mermaida’s cave. It was dark, dank and a nauseating smell attacked her nose. She felt droplets falling from the roof and she knew it was not water. She heard a child-like voice softly singing the words “Let’s play hide and seek”. Mythanaya’s blood ran cold, this was a voice of pure evil. A dark shadow scurried past her, an ice cold finger tapped her shoulder and as she turned two dark, yellow, ghastly eyes stared into her own.
Mythanaya had practiced pirouettes since she could walk, this was the first time she would use it in reality and she as she began to spin she hoped she would end Meramidas reign of terror.

    BROTHERHOOD

It was a Tuesday afternoon in one of the wealthiest parts of London (Mayfair). Morris was on
his way home from the poshest school in the country. It was so posh that the caretaker had
    mannerisms like the Queen!

The house belonging to Morris and his family was gigantic. It had five floors with one hundred
rooms on each floor. The maids often got lost and Morris used a Segway to get around. Morris let himself into the house and was taking off his shoes when he heard voices in the kitchen. His mother was talking sweetly to a red-haired boy who was a bit taller than himself. When she saw Morris she introduced the boy as Melvin his new adoptive brother. This was a big shock for Morris and he didn’t know what to say but Melvin shook his hand and gave him a big friendly smile. “I think we will get along just fine, don’t you?” he said.

The two boys went off to find room 73 which was going to be Melvins bedroom. Melvin was the same age as Morris but seemed more grown up. He had come from Ireland on the boat and was very excited about living in such a a big house. He told Morris that he would be starting at the posh school the next day.

On Wednesday morning, the two boys were having breakfast when Morris’s mother brought in Melvins new fancy uniform. He quite liked the trousers and jacket but pulled his face when he saw the waistcoat and cravat. “Blimey” he said “I’ll look like I’m getting married!”

On their way to school Morris was describing all the teachers to Melvin and was getting very giddy doing lots of impressions. He wasn’t paying attention to the busy road and stepped off the pavement without noticing the red double decker bus coming straight at him. Rapidly Melvin sprinted onto the road and dragged Morris back to safety. He had saved him within an inch of his life!

After double maths, the boys went out onto the playground and Morris began describing some of the other boys to Melvin. “The worst boy in the school is Beefy Boris. He’s big and blubbery, smells like a camel and is the biggest bully” Suddenly Morris felt a cold breath on his neck, the putrid smell of …Beefy Boris! ”He’s behind me isn’t he? Melvin was too scared to say anything so instead he nodded his head violently. In alarm Morris tried to run but was pulled back by his collar. Boris spun him round and gave him a hard dig in the ribs. Melvin saw tears in his new brothers eyes so quickly pushed the bully to the floor with force, then picked Morris up and told him to run.

As the boys sat down for their tea, their mother asked if they had had a good day at school.
“Eventful” said Melvin. “Lucky” replied Morris and they both began to laugh.

First Night Nerves by Amy C

    Complete darkness. Silence

Not complete silence. A cough here and there, a faint whisper, the odd murmur and a couple of slurps. And then a hiss, as smoke crept across the floor making my feet disappear.

I stand perfectly still, looking straight ahead. We all do. All except for Daniella who can never stand still for more than a second. Every rehearsal she is the same.

“Stand still Daniella,” Heidi always has to say at least 1000 times. Heidi is whispering it again now. Big mistake! Daniella is even less still, as she spins around wondering where the voice is coming from. We don’t see anything, but we all recognize the desperate thud of Heidi hitting herself on the forehead with the palm of her hand.

This is it. The moment we have been waiting for. The dance we have been rehearsing for three months with Heidi, our dance teacher. Three months of leaping, twirling, stretching, bending, reaching, sliding, spinning, flicking, kicking and clicking, (with a few jazz hands thrown in for good measure, of course). In three seconds time, drums will beat and Beyoncé will start to sing.

I try to imagine the first few moves. Step, ball-change, pirouette, turn and stamp. Then punch, punch, grab some air and pull it to your chest, and down on the left knee. Must remember the left knee or else I will end up spinning on my bottom the other way from everyone else, which is what happened at the last rehearsal. Heidi made us all start again from the beginning.

Left knee? Hang on, maybe it was the right knee. Oh no! What if I mess it all up and I embarrass myself in front of the whole audience? Everyone, including Heidi will think I am rubbish.

Okay. Deep breath. Think. Left or right?

Oh, I wish Daniella would stay still, I’m trying to concentrate. And can’t the audience sit quietly instead of coughing and murmuring and slurping and fidgeting? That’s enough smoke now. The hissing isn’t helping and the smoke is up to my knees now. It won’t matter which way I spin on my bum because nobody will see us in the cloud of smoke.

I haven’t moved yet and I’m already exhausted. Sweat is running down my face. My insides have started dancing without me. Concentrate. Breathe. Be calm.

Actually, I might not want to be a dancer anymore. I might just concentrate on my hockey instead. Yes, hockey sounds better. Much better and less smokey. I think I’ll go now.

Hang on! Drums! Beyoncé has started singing. I’m too late. Here goes!

Five, six, seven and, step, ball-change, pirouette, turn and stamp…
