Welcome to Year 6 Blog Area

Welcome to our Year 6 Blog Zone!

To further improve our blogging skills, we are going to be using this tool to support us in some of our English work. Below you will find a task to complete. Make sure you are thinking about all the writing skills you have been working on in class when you add to this blog. We will look forward to reading your comments and encouraging each other, through offering positive feedback.

BBC Radio 2 – 500 word challenge

Radio 2 have launched their annual 500 word  competition which asks children in the UK aged between 5 and 13 to compose an original work of fiction using no more than 500 words. Entries are in two categories: 5-9 years and 10-13 years.

On the website, bbc.co.uk/500words , you will find an array of tools to inspire and help you.  We would like you to blog your story on our Year 6 blog page.

You have until Friday 17th February 2017 to enter your story on our Year 6 blog. This will give us time to submit your stories to the competition.

Good luck and we shall look forward to reading them.

Descriptive writing

Buster The Boxer

Watch the video of Buster the Boxer. I hope you enjoy it.

Your task is to write a narrative in the first person as Buster the Boxer. You will tell the story about what happened that night and the next morning. Make sure you get across your thoughts and feelings about watching the other animals, and how it felt when you got your turn on the trampoline that morning. Make sure you edit your work carefully as these will be published, and we will tag Buster the Boxer into these posts, so you may hear back.
Reminder: Please only write your first name when posting your blog.

Some excellent stories have been written about Buster, well done everyone.
Don’t forget to proofread your work to try and improve it, and edit it carefully to check for errors such as sentences not making sense, spelling and punctuation.
Enjoy reading each other’s version of the story.
